Ayurvedic treatment is called panchakarma, and the word ‘panch’, meaning five, tells us that there are five aspects to Panchakarma Treatment in Delhi. The basis of this are the three ‘doshas’ of all human bodies, which are created from unique combinations of the following elements – ether, air, fire, water, earth. Ether and air combine to give the first dosha called Vata, while fire and water combine to give pitta, and the last dosha is called kapha which is a combination of water and earth. These tridoshas (three doshas) are in perfect balance in a healthy human body, and panchakarma sets right this balance.

Panchakarma Treatment in Delhi

Panchakarma itself consists of the following five elements –
  • Vamana – this is a process of therapeutic vomiting which eliminates the excess mucus from the respiratory tract.
  • Virechan – this is a process of purgation to counter the negative effects of excess bile being secreted. The excess bile (pitta) stored in the gall bladder or liver is ejected as a result of the purgative.
  • Basti – most diseases are due to the first dosha Vata, and this element of enema helps clear the system of the excess vata.
  • Nasya – this aspect of panchakarma involves introduction of medication into the nasal cavity. Since the nose is such an important part of the body, this process assumes great importance.
  • Raktamoksha – the blood is the lifegiving fluid for a human body, and this aspect involves the extraction of blood using leeches.
